The Howard County government, in partnership with the Howard County Economic Development Authority (HCEDA), has developed a grant program that will increase childcare providers’ access to financial capital to pursue development and growth opportunities for childcare providers. This new grant program will help address the existing gaps in accessing financial support for licensed childcare providers.

Grant funding will be made available for existing center-based childcare providers and family childcare providers. Funding is also intended to support childcare needs that are not traditionally met in the market, including childcare for children with disabilities and childcare for families who work nontraditional hours.

Funds are available for the following expenses: inventory purchases, equipment purchases, improvement/renovation costs, build-out/expansion costs, or related expenses. Ineligible grant expenses include, but are not limited to, operating costs associated with annual operations of a childcare facility, including personnel, wages, fringe, and benefits.
