Howard County Fair: Connecting with Our Community

Howard County Fair

The Howard County Fair is an annual celebration of local culture, agriculture and community spirit and this year’s event was no exception. Despite the challenging weather, the fairgrounds remained a hub of activity and engagement. Our team at the Howard County Economic Development Authority (HCEDA) had the pleasure of participating in this cherished tradition and we’re thrilled to share our experience.

A Hub of Activity and Engagement

The Howard County Fair is renowned for its diverse range of activities and this year’s lineup was packed with events that catered to all ages and interests. From the thrilling rides at the carnival to the captivating exhibitions and performances, there was something for everyone. Highlights included the popular demolition derby, the thrilling horse shows and the delightful 4-H exhibits showcasing the hard work and dedication of our local youth.

One of the most anticipated events of the fair was the nightly entertainment, which featured a variety of musical performances and family-friendly shows. The atmosphere was electric, with crowds gathering to enjoy live music, dance performances and other engaging acts. Additionally, the fair’s food vendors offered a mouth-watering selection of treats, from classic fair staples like funnel cakes and corn dogs to more unique culinary delights.

Our Role in the Fair

As a proud sponsor and participant in the Howard County Fair, our HCEDA team was excited to set up a booth to engage with fairgoers and share information about the resources and support available to local businesses and entrepreneurs. Our goal was to connect with the community, answer questions and provide valuable insights into how the HCEDA can help foster business growth and economic development in our area.

Our booth was designed to be both informative and inviting. We had a variety of materials on hand, including brochures, flyers, interactive displays and our farm animal stress relievers. Visitors were encouraged to stop by and learn more about the HCEDA’s initiatives, such as the Catalyst Loan Fund, the LIFT Microloan Fund and the various state and county incentives available to businesses in Howard County. We also shared a booth with the Howard County Government Agriculture Preservation Program, where they showcased the Howard County Preservation Map.

Throughout the week, our team engaged with a diverse group of attendees. From local entrepreneurs seeking guidance on starting a new venture to established business owners looking for information on expanding their operations, it was inspiring to see the wide range of individuals interested in learning more about how the HCEDA can support their goals.

Building Community Connections

One of the highlights of our participation at the fair was the opportunity to connect with fellow community members in a relaxed and festive setting. The Howard County Fair is more than just an event; it’s a celebration of the close-knit community that makes our region so special. By providing information and resources at the fair, we were able to strengthen our connection with local residents and businesses, reinforcing our commitment to supporting the growth and success of our community.

Our team had the pleasure of meeting many enthusiastic individuals eager to learn about the various programs and services offered by the HCEDA. It was particularly rewarding to hear firsthand how our efforts can make a tangible difference in the lives of local entrepreneurs and business owners. Whether it was a conversation about securing financing for a new business idea or exploring opportunities for growth and development, the interactions were both meaningful and motivating.

Looking Ahead

As we reflect on our experience at the Howard County Fair, we are grateful for the opportunity to be a part of such a vibrant and engaging event. Despite the weather, the fair provided a fantastic platform for us to connect with our community, share valuable information and celebrate the spirit of entrepreneurship and innovation that defines Howard County.

We extend our heartfelt thanks to everyone who visited our booth and engaged with our team. Your enthusiasm and interest in the HCEDA’s programs and resources are truly appreciated. We also want to acknowledge the hard work of the fair organizers and volunteers who made this event possible. Your dedication to creating a memorable experience for all involved is commendable.

As we move forward, we look forward to continuing our efforts to support local businesses and entrepreneurs. Whether through events like the Howard County Fair or our ongoing programs and initiatives, we remain committed to fostering a thriving and dynamic business community in Howard County. Thank you for being a part of this journey with us and we can’t wait to see you at the Howard County Fair 2025!
